He is Risen!!

This morning we woke up and the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs all throughout the living room for the girls to find. So they had fun finding eggs... and Mommy was POSITIVE the easter bunny had 60 eggs (20 each) but we only found 59... so either Mommy... I mean the Easter Bunny miscounted the eggs, or there is one hiding around here somewhere. It only has candy in it thank goodness!

Then we made breakfast (eggs, bacon and resurrection buns) The girls had fun making the buns. We took biscuits and they 'beat them' flat like Jesus was beaten by the soldiers and made to wear a crown of thorns. We put butter, sugar and cinnamon on the bun because Jesus' body was anointed with spices before his burial! Then they each got a large marshmallow that was 'Jesus' the marshmallow was white reminding us that Jesus never did anything wrong and was pure.

We folded the buns over the marshmallow, putting Jesus in the 'tomb' and sealed the tomb. We sprinked some more cinnamon and sugar reminding us that it was so sweet that Jesus died for our sins so that we may have eternal life! Then we baked them. When we sat down to breakfast Daddy bit into his bun first to find it hollow !!! (the marshmallow melts, leaving a 'hollow tomb') Ruby's eyes got big and she said "DADDY, you ATE Jesus!!!" LOL! We told her that it was empty just as the tomb was empty on Easter morning because Jesus had risen! Sierra thought for a minute, asking, where did the marshmallow go? How is the bun hollow. We told her its hollow because Jesus rose from the dead after He died for our sins. She thought for a moment, and then turned to Ruby and said, "its not magic, the marshmallow melted!" She was so proud that she figured it out. We explained that yes, the marshmallow melted, but Jesus still rose from the dead on Easter morning and that's why we celebrate Easter.

Then we got them in their Easter gear and off for church! (After we dug out the car from about 4 inches of snow!)

The minute we got home they stripped out of their dresses and got into jeans and snow gear to play out in the snow!!! This was the most snow we got all year long!! I think God sent the snow to remind us that His son was pure as snow and died for our sins! What a wonderful blessing!

And our grand Easter dinner was Pizza Hut!!! Thank goodness they weren't closed! I didn't feel like cooking.

What a wonderful post! We were going to make those buns but I had to work the night before. I will have to try again next year. It sounds like you had a great Easter. God Bless!
