So we are starting on something pretty easy – a block quilt! And I am making her do almost everything (with my help, of course). The only thing I am doing is threading the machine. Here are some pictures so far.
We went to Joann’s and she picked out some fat quarters, then we found some fabric on a bolt that matched for some of the front squares and backing. When we got home, we realized the blanket wasn’t proportional, so we added the purple and white gingham check (it was the closest thing that matched). Which incidentally is left over from Grandma Patty making Sierra’s baby quilt!
We cut the squares out one night. A few days later we laid them out to decide what design she wanted. Here is a picture of her pinning the layers together to sew.
Learning to sew a straight a line – its harder than it looks!
Time to pin the next row…
And that is as far as we’ve gotten so far – I told her we can only work on it when Maddie is resting. So she keeps asking me… is the baby ready for another nap yet? Lol – um, no, she just woke up 30 minutes ago!
But we will keep you updated! I’m just going to add a later of batting and have her tie the squares. She is so excited to make her very own blanket and told me that now she knows how to sew she can help me with the flower girl dresses for Aunt Jessy’s wedding! LOL!

I love that Sierra is learning how to sew, especially starting with a quilt! That's my girl! Tell her Grandma Patty is so proud of her!
Yeah Sierra - you are doing better than me with my current quilt project. Mind you my first quilt was with paper hexagons :ugh:
Perhaps I need more naps and then I'd get on further?
That's funny, Maddie just can't get enough naps in for Sierra to sew her quilt :) cute., Amy
OH good....now Sierra can come visit and teach me how to sew. LOL
and PS....I left you something on my blog...go check it out.
How awesome!
